Computer Assisted Personal Interview ( CAPI )

Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) is a method of interviewing in which the respondent or interviewer uses an electronic device to answer questions. It’s like a computer-assisted telephone interview, except that the interview took place in person rather than in a phone call. This method is often preferred over telephone interviews where the list of questions is long and complex or where online methodologies are relatively less feasible. It is set as a personal interview process because the interviewer is usually present to manage and direct the respondent.

CAPI makes it easy to explore strategies, skip patterns, and validate during interviews. This makes the research more efficient and helps to ensure high-quality data. It also saves recent attempts at data purification. CAPI is a great tool for monitoring accountants. It can automatically record the start time of each conversation, the end time, and the location of the GPS, making it easy for administrators to check whether the calculator actually performed the given conversation by comparing its time with GPS data and that of other conversations where the administrator was present. Given a strong connection to wifi or handheld data, the data collected by CAPI surveys are loaded immediately in electronic format. This allows the research team to evaluate the top checks.
