Face to Face Interviews

Face to Face interview is one of the oldest and most widely used methods of conducting primary research. A face-to-face interview is one that uses a standard scheduled questionnaire (or interview process) to ensure that all respondents are asked the same questions in the same sequence. It is a two-way discussion initiated by the enumerator to obtain information from the respondent. The questions, words, and sequence describe the structure of the conversation and the interview is conducted face-to-face.

The main advantage is the presence of the interviewer, which makes it easier for the respondent to either clarify answers or ask for clarification for any questionnaire and also helps the clients to get complete attention from the respondents by eliminating any distractions

Conversations can include informal, free, and unanswered conversations without a pre-determined schedule of pre-arranged questions. While another type of informal conversation is a focused interview in which the interviewer directs the questions carefully and consistently so that the respondent’s responses do not deviate from the topic or main idea of the research order. They can follow a variety of formats; for example, the respondent’s responses often lead to subsequent questions, with the aim of examining the motive of the respondent.
