Gaming Industry Market Research

Gaming uses special programs known as electronic games or video games on game consoles such as X-box, PlayStation, Nintendo, or on your computers (which is known as online gaming). The gaming industry is no longer a niche area for a certain age group or segment of consumers. With the advent of mobile games and the development of computer platforms used to play these games, gaming has become an active form of entertainment for players of all groups and ages.

The Video Games industry develops, publishes, manufactures, distributes, and sells electronic gaming devices, software, and other services. Traditionally the video game industry has focused on playing on ‘raster’ display devices where the resolution is determined by the number of pixels the image contains. However, with the development of more advanced technologies, such as the emergence of 3D polygon image pioneered by the Silicon Graphics Institute, we are now focusing on any type of display device.

The video game industry can be divided into two additional categories. First is the software industry, which makes the games itself; secondly the infrastructure and technology sector, which combines the support needed for distribution and the development of advanced technology needed to play these games. The three components that make up the video game industry are combined. Also within the software field, there is a variety of scope of the game offers, such as but not limited to First Person Shooter Games (FPS), Role Playing Games (RPG’s), Mass Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG’s), or Platform Level Games (PLG’s). PC games or personal computer games are played on a computer using a keyboard, mouse, gaming device, or gamepad. The device used to play games is called a video game console. The console releases a video image showing the game. Consoles include those used for home games, handheld consoles, micro consoles, and dedicated consoles. The console has now been converted into a single device that can be used as a set-top box, web browser, and CD and DVD player. A video game played on a mobile phone such as a smartphone, tablet or calculator or smartwatch is known as a mobile game.
