Uganda, a country in east-central Africa. About the size of Great Britain, Uganda is home to a large ethnic group. English and Christian language help unite these diverse people, who meet in the capital city of Kampala, a city whose standards include many small parks and public gardens and spectacular anointing on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake. Swahili Languages unites the country with its East African neighbors Kenya and Tanzania.

Uganda gained its independence on October 9, 1962. Its borders, painted in an artificial and controversial way at the end of the 19th century, included two distinct types of civilizations: the regimes of southern and central Nilotic and Sudanese peoples in the north.

The country is already stocked with crude oil and natural gas resources.  While agriculture accounted for 56 percent of the economy in 1986, with coffee as its main export, it has now surpassed the labor sector, which accounted for 52 percent of GDP in 2007. During the 1950s, the British colonial regime encouraged approximately 500,000 agriculturalists to join the coalition.  Since 1986, the government (with the support of international and international organizations) has taken action to revive the Idi Amin-led economic ruin and subsequent civil war.

Uganda traditionally relies on Kenya for access to the Indian Ocean port of Mombasa. Efforts are underway to establish a second access route by sea to Bukasa ports in Uganda and Musoma in Tanzania, connected by a line to Arusha in central Tanzania and to the Twanga port in the Indian Ocean.
